Celeste en llamas

After the suicide of artist Roberta Marrero, her friend Celeste González, a trans actress and performer born in the Canary Islands, confronts an unsettling question: are lives lived outside the norm destined for tragedy? Celeste en llamas emerges from director David Velduque’s real fear that Celeste might follow the same path. Structured as a letter written in a dressing room, the film unfolds through objects placed on an empty stage — a kimono, a mirror, a bed, a chainsaw, a handkerchief. Through them, Celeste reconstructs her life. Archive, performance and intimacy intertwine in a fragmented meditation on desire, pain and survival.
