Talents, the competitive section of the festival dedicated to directors with less than two feature films in thei filmography, will present 16 films from Spain, Mexico, USA, India, Norway, Argentina, Luxembourg, France, Georgia, Iran, Brazil and Germany . Some of the films of these emerging directors have stood out in international festivals such as 3/4 of Illian Metev (Golden Leopard Filmmakers of the Present in Locarno 2017), En attendant les hirondelles of Karim Moussaoui (Special jury prize and best director in Gijón 2017), More by Onur Saylak (FIPRESCI in Valladolid 2017) or the Mexican Tiempo compartido by Sebastián Hoffman (Special Jury Prize for the best script in Sundance 2017). There are also first features such as Con el viento de Meritxell Colell, A estación violenta by Anxos Fazáns (based on a novel by Manuel Jabois), Ava by the Iranian-Canadian director Sadaf Foroughi or Trinta Lumes by Diana Toucedo. Out of competition we must highlight the film awarded with the Zabaltegi prize – Tabakalera in San Sebastián 2018, Braguino by Clément Cogitore, the Golden Camera of the last Cannes festival, Bienvenida a Montparnasse by Léonor Serraille or one of the revelations of the season, A Ciambra, directed by Jonas Carpignano and produced by Martin Scorsese, Best Actor Award at the 2017 Seville Festival and David di Donatello Award for Best Director.
