D’A 2017 FILM CLOSING: ‘ESTIU 1993’ DE CARLA SIMÓN
This year’s ten-day program will end with one of the best Catalan of this year. Estiu 1993 is Carla Simón’s debut feature film –after many shortfilms- and starts as an autobiographic: it tells her own story, when at age six she became an orphan and went to live with her uncles and her sister. Starred by two six and four years old girls, the brilliants Laia Artigas and Paula Robles, in the good company of Bruna Cusi (famous this days for the premiere of Incierta glòria) and the charismatic David Verdaguer, Estiu 1993 had its world premier in the Berlinale 2017 where it won tow awards; best debut and The Grand Prix of the Generation Kplus International Jury for the Best Film. One movie admired by the critics and highlight as a film marked by the director’s sensitivity and emotional intelligence.
