British director Joanna Hogg has been due to visit the festival since the D’A – Barcelona Film Festival dedicated a Focus to her in 2023. This year she stopped by the festival to receive the D’A 2025 Award and hold a dialogue with film critic and programmer Eulàlia Iglesias. They chatted about the beginnings of Joanna Hogg’s career, about the rejection of her first short film Caprice, about her work that culminates in a masterful way with The Souvenir I and II and The Eternal Daughter, her working methods and the change in trajectory that her foray into two commissioned shorts, Présages and Autobiografia di una Borsetta, could mean for her work.
