He studied Audiovisual Communication at Valenciennes University in France after graduating from the Institut de Hautes Études Commerciales in Tunisia in 1998. He directed five short films before his debut feature, Hedi, with which he won the award for best first feature film at the Berlinale and the Silver Bear for best actor for Majd Mastoura. His second feature film, Dear Son, participated in the Cannes Filmmakers’ Fortnight.
