(París, 1948) He made numerous short films during his youth, including Une plume pour Carole, Les enfants desaccordes and Droit de visite. His feature debut, Marie pour, won the Grand Prix at the Festival du Jeune Cinéma de Hyères. In 1982 Garrel was awarded the Jean Vigo Prize for L’enfant secret. A child of the Nouvelle Vague, he continued his path with Les baisers de secours (1988). In 1992, his J’entends plus la guitare won the Silver Lion in Venice, an Award he received a second time for Regular Lovers (2005), a sensitive evocation of May 68 starring his son, Louis. L’Amant d’un jour has been screened the Director’s Fortnight in Cannes, IFFR and Gijón, among many others.
