The historic French director Catherine Breillat has always moved on the margins and is a pioneer in the exploration of female desire in cinema. His films have blown many barriers in the representation of sex, openly talking about the discovery of desire in adolescence (as in Un vrai jeunne fille or A ma soeur!) or turning to the porn star Rocco Siffredi to embody high-voltage sexual fantasies (as in Romance or Anatomía de un infierno). The director is the protagonist of Focus D’A 2024, with the collaboration of the Filmoteca de Catalunya, and will visit Barcelona to present her retrospective and her latest film, El último verano, premiering in Catalonia.

We also invite you to read the text that Philipp Engel has dedicated to the director to whom D’A 2024 is dedicating its Focus.
