Yu, a boutique saleswoman, has a relationship with Kei, a bankrupt actor who lives at her expense. One day, Kei offers Yu to marry him. This unexpected proposal interrupts the balance of the couple.

He begins his cinematographic career with 2/Duo, awarded at the Rotterdam Festival; M/Other, FIPRESCI Award at Cannes; or H Story, selected in Un Certain Regard of the same festival. From here, a successful period of French production begins, which leads him to win the Special Jury Prize in Locarno with Un couple parfait and selections in the Directors’ Fortnight or San Sebastián with Yuki & Nina and The Lion Sleeps Tonight, respectively. He was object of a retrospective in the D’A 2018.
