Synopsis

Now that five years have passed since the death of Agnès Varda, we recover seven short films made by the remembered filmmaker, one of the capital names of the seventh art of all time, between 1958 and 2003. A unique opportunity to watch a series of pieces on the big screen generally less known or difficult to access. From the humorous Du côté de la côte, one of her first works, filmed on the French Riviera, to works focused on the statues and buildings of the city of Paris, such as Les Dites Cariatides or Le Lion volatil. It is also very interesting the current relevance of a title like Réponse de femmes, made almost fifty years ago for French television, with the witnesses of a group of women discussing their femininity and patriarchal society.

Agnès Varda

She is one of the most influential and recognized directors in the history of cinema. Her avant-garde style and feminist point of view were far ahead of her time, spearheading the French New Wave while surpassing it in boldness and longevity. Her career covers fifty titles produced from the mid-1950s until her death in 2019. Agnès Varda’s work was born from her vocation as a photographer, and that creative independence extends to her films, which range from domestic documentaries to international productions.
