Synopsis
A man, his daughter, and a horse battle the relentless wind. They are heading toward some refuge from what seems like the end of the world. Now indoors, within dark walls, the days pass and life goes on, despite everything, thanks to a strict vow of austerity. Neither water, nor food, nor words are superfluous. Nor is hope. The Turin Horse, Béla Tarr’s final masterpiece, co-directed with Ágnes Hranitzky, is the final testament of a creator of worlds, atmospheres, and a stark yet sublime beauty. A film that helps us not to lower our gaze in the face of the most unforgiving horizon.

Béla Tarr
He is one of the great names in contemporary cinema. Over more than thirty years, he directed nine feature films and several medium-length films and collaborative projects. At 22, he shot his debut feature, Family Nest, a socially conscious film, somewhere between fiction and documentary, made without a budget and with non-professional actors. He later gained admission to the School of Theatre and Film and, from there, developed a filmography that includes major works such as Sátántangó, Werckmeister Harmonies, and The Turin Horse. In 2025, he was in Barcelona to receive the D’A Honorary Award.
