Lithuania, 1948. The war is over, but the country is left in ruins. 19-year-old Untė is a member of the Partisan movement resisting Soviet occupation. They do not fight on equal terms, but this desperate struggle will determine the future of the whole population. At the age of discovery of life, Untė will also be confronted with violence and betrayal. The lines are blurred between the burning passion of his youth and the cause for which he is fighting. He is ready to commit himself to the fullest, at the risk of loosing his innocence.
He graduated from VGIK film school in Moscow. From early on, he met a great critical success. His films such as Three Days, Corridor, Few of Us, all built an uncommonly delicate aesthetic that his eighth feature, Peace to Us in Our Dreams kept on expanding. In February 2016, the Centre Pompidou dedicated him a retrospective.
