Synopsis
True icons of underground electronica, equipped with an arsenal of synthesisers and modulators, Asturian band Fasenuova are a gush of fury, lyricism, darkness and primitivism that’s deep rooted in their homeland. Active since the mid-eighties with other names and groups like Étika Makinal, Hegemonía and Goodbye, it was not until the release of A la quinta hoguera (2011) that they truly landed in the media eye. Indebted to such pioneers of industrial music as Throbbing Gristle and Esplendor Geométrico, but somewhat more melodic in style, they’re classed as a rock band and their lyrics are inspired by some of the finest Hispanic poetry. In this show, which is appearing for the time in Catalonia, their sound enters in wonderful dialogue with one of the pioneers of experimental cinema, the director of Ukrainian origin Maya Deren, creator of an intriguingly poetic and visual universe, to which they shall be providing a live soundtrack for four of her projects: At Land, Study in Choreography for Camera, Meshes of The Afternoon and The Very Eye of Night.
