Synopsis

Rosa and her friends have decided to spend the night on “the island”, a stretch of beach that has become their realm. It’s the last night of the summer, they’re turning eighteen, experiencing everything, and saying their goodbyes.

Damien Manivel

Contemporary dancer and circus artist, Manivel has combined his work as a performer with film direction. After two short films that won awards in Rotterdam and Cannes, his first feature film “A Young Poet” (2014) won a special mention at the Locarno Festival, where he later also won the award for Best Direction with “Isadora’s Children” (2019). He participated in the 2017 edition of D’A with “Le Parc”. “The Island” is his sixth feature film.
