Synopsis
Béla Tarr returns to Barcelona, after the retrospective at the Filmoteca de Catalunya last year, to receive our deepest reverence and admiration. Master of filmmakers, the D’A – Barcelona Film Festival did not want to miss the opportunity to give a special award on the 15th anniversary of the Hungarian director Béla Tarr. Author of titanic works that are already part of the heritage of humanity such as Sátántangó or Werckmeister Harmonies, he made The Turin Horse (2011) his last ride.
Following the award ceremony for Béla Tarr, the Hungarian filmmaker will offer a masterclass on the creative process of his feature film Kárhozat.
The D’A masterclass will be preceded by a day of activities on Sunday, March 23, featuring the filmmaker: a 35 mm screening of Carl Theodor Dreyer’s The Passion of Joan of Arc at the ermita de la Pietat in Ulldecona and a screening of Béla Tarr’s Damnation at La Ràpita auditorium.
