Synopsis
Winner of the Oscar for Best Documentary and double award-winner at the Berlinale, No Other Land stands as one of the most powerful films of the year. A bold act of creative resistance, it seeks justice amid the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Basel Adra, a young Palestinian activist from Masafer Yatta in the West Bank, has been resisting the forced displacement of his community by Israeli authorities since childhood. Through his lens, he captures the slow, systematic destruction of villages in his homeland—where soldiers, sent by the Israeli government, demolish homes and expel families. During his journey, he meets Yuval, an Israeli journalist who joins him in solidarity.
This special screening is an initiative by the D’A Film Festival Barcelona, in collaboration with the Catalan Film Academy, in response to recent reports of aggression, abduction, and the eventual release of Palestinian filmmaker Hamdan Ballal by settlers and members of the Israeli army.
Through this event, D’A Film Festival Barcelona expresses:
- A firm and unequivocal rejection of any attack on the right to life and freedom of expression.
- • A call to end violence, intimidation, and the systematic targeting of civilians worldwide—with a particular urgency regarding the suffering of the Palestinian people in recent days.
Free screening with prior reservation. Judith Colell, president of the Academy, will read a joint statement from the audiovisual sector to express our solidarity and our commitment to freedom of expression and the denunciation of repression. An initiative co-organized with the Catalan Film Academy and supported by various industry organizations.

Basel Adra, born in 1996 in At-Tuwani, West Bank, is a Palestinian lawyer, journalist, and filmmaker. Hamdan Ballal, born in 1989 in Susiya, West Bank, is a Palestinian filmmaker, photographer, farmer, and human rights activist. Yuval Abraham, born in 1995 in Beersheba, Israel, is an Israeli investigative journalist, filmmaker, and translator. Rachel Szor is an Israeli filmmaker based in Jerusalem. She has worked as a cinematographer, editor, and director. The four joined forces to create No Other Land, a documentary depicting the destruction of the Palestinian community in Masafer Yatta by Israeli forces. The film was shot between 2019 and 2023, and won several international awards, including the Oscar for Best Documentary in 2025.
