YUKI & NINA

Nine-year-old Yuki finds out that her parents are separating. Yuki’s father is French, her mother Japanese. She’ll have to follow her mother to Japan and leave everything behind in Paris, starting with her best friend, Nina. Together, they come up with plans to reunite the parents. In the end, running away seems to be the only solution, and the forest their new destination.

(Hiroshima, 1960) He began his career in Japan in documentary filmmaking. In 1997, he made his debut in fiction with his first film 2/Duo, awarded with the NETPAC Award in Rotterdam. His second feature film, M/other, shot in 1999, won the FIPRESCI Award in Cannes. In 2001, H Story was presented in the Un Certain Regard section in Cannes. In 2005, he shot Un couple parfait in French and Paris, with Valérie Bruni-Tedeschi and Bruno Todeschini. In 2009, he co-directed Yuki & Nina, his fifth feature, presented at the Directors’ Fortnight. His last feature, Le lion est mort ce soir arrived almost ten years after.
