Synopsis
Mala Gent follows three characters ten days prior to a wedding. Rosario’s career as a football player just ended and his privileges with it. He’s the bride’s ex-husband and is terrified to go to the without his car. Marinela is a kindergarten teacher, hates kids and dreams of singing. She’s not picked as the wedding singer and will have to deal with the chosen one. Pepe is a baker, divorced and afraid of loneliness. He caused a poisoning and his daughter, the bride, won’t let him bake the cake. At the wedding, all three will appear perfectly fine.
Director
Sara Gutiérrez Galve
Her debut feature as director and co-screenwriter, Yo la Busco (2018), premiered at the Malaga Film Festival and won the Movistar+ and Best Actor Awards. It was a candidate for Best Film at the XI Gaudí Awards. She currently lives between Paris and Barcelona, combining her writing with work in the directing department on projects produced between Spain and France (i.e., Lacuesta’s One Year, One Night and Sorogoyen’s As Bestas). She also works as an assistant to Jacques Audiard.
